RE: [bolger] Fldg Schnr Mast Finish?
I'm at the same stage in my spar-making. I am using 100% varnish for now,
just to get it done, but will paint the ends at a later date. I also plan
to leather the boom and gaff jaws, also later, as I'm working to a deadline
right now.

Still picking away at the Folding Schooner which is so close yet so
far away from being finished. Still need rudder, bilge boards and
final installation of some decking and flotation and all the rigging.
I painted a corner of my epoxy hinges with some 10 yr old spray on
Rustoleum and it adhered fine. Might even spring for some fresher
version more esthetic than the flat black I bought for some long
forgotten project.
I am wondering how to finish the masts, booms and gaffs. Ruel Parker
uses Djet(?) oil on the masts and paints the mastheads white. If I
paint the whole thing with primer and house paint am I going to have
a
problem where the gaffs and mast partners rub against the masts.
Anybody have advice on how to approach this phase of the project.
