Thanks.

I plan to. I also have a few more pictures of the intermediate stages to
add. I keep forgetting to download them from my digital camera.

Michael,

Congratulations on the launch of your Brick! It's an amazing
feeling to sail aboard a boat you built yourself. You must be
grinning ear to ear, even in your sleep.

Fair winds and following seas.

Take care,
Pete Reynolds

Thanks, I used RAKA Clear Coat Epoxy (one gallon) and the boat looks better
in the pictures than close up I rushed it and got runs. I plan to sand her
down and put on a second coat of epoxy and then cover with either varnish or
polyurethane.

Nice site I hope to put one together in the near future. I will let
everyone know the URL when it is done.

You will have to put a picture on your site showing your brick when it is

I really Know what you mean the is a saying that the closer you get to
finishing a project the longer it takes to get it done. I went from plywood
to enclosed boat in about a week (I had a week off from work) and then it
has taken me from July 10 to August 18th to get her ready to just row. I
still have to finsh the mast, leeboard, and rudder. I will tell you this it
IS worth the time. There is just nothing like lauching you own boat.

From one brick builder to another, congratulations on a nice looking
brick. What did you use for the clear finish on the wood?

My brick can be seen going together at
http://www.visi.com/~darus/brick/index.html

The hull is complete. It has 2 coats of Killz2 latex primer inside and
out, and one coat of light blue latex house paint outside, so far.
I plan to put 2 full coats of paint all around. I'm going to put a blue
polytarp sail on my blue boat and put it in a blue lake. I'll have
the only Stealth Brick in Minnesota. I'll probably get run over by a
jet-ski.

I've been working on it since the beginning of May. Progress has been
agonizingly slow because my work site is 100 miles from home. I've been
averaging about 2 weekends a month to work on it. At the rate I'm going, I
fear I may have to mount skates or skis on it in order to sail it by the
time I finish all the fiddly bits.
Congratulations on your achievement. I'll bet it feels pretty good.

I hope you have made the seat detachable. One of the great things
about the Brick is that if you have two people, you can each lean
against opposite sides of the boat so that you don't have to move
around when you tack! I suppose you could sit on the longitudinal
seat, but it wouldn't be quite as lazy and comfortable, I bet.
I wanted to let everyone know that I returned from the Third Annual Great
Lakes Small Craft Symposium in Saginaw Michigan. I had finished my brick to
the point that it could be rowed. I have added a longitudinal seat similar
to the Tortoise and wanted to try it out. I worked great! The Brick (named
Das Box) was very easy to row. I am now working on the mast so that I can
take Das Box out sailing.
The GLSCS 3 was a blast! There some 70 boats in attendances three of them
Phil Bolger designs (my brick, a Bobcat, and a Skimmer). The Skimmer was
David Gray's of Polytarp fame. David did a demo on how to make a sail using
his polytarp. It was quite interesting and when he finished he was kind
enough to give the sail to me for my Brick. Remember David when you need a
sail! David's web site is:
http://hometown.aol.com/polysail/HTML/index.htm
I have uploaded some pictures to the files in a folder brick.
http://www.egroups.com/files/bolger/brick/
The pictures show Das Box being build and some of the boats at the GLSCS 3
Enjoy!
