Windsprint, Changing the Partner diameter

So my boat was originally set up/tricked out with a carbon mast. The builder when off plans and added a small block of wood between the partners, with a hole cut for the carbon mast. After measuring the partner hole diameter, it's coming out to 2 3/8". Bolger calls for 2 1/2". At the floor, the hole cut measures at 2 1/4", which I think, is correct per Bolger.
Since my mast is wood and not carbon, should I open the hole in the partner to 2 1/2"? I can post an image if needed.
