Re: Windsprint ready to sail, minus some rigging questions

Check out some of the shots from the rigging of SCAMP. Howard Rice changed some of the rigging to capture the top yard to the mast without parrels.

I think this topic has come up a time or two in the past. If you log in
to the group page and search the message board with a few well chosen
keywords, you might find some information in old threads. Look for the
name "Patrick Crockett".

Very stoked!
The boat wasn't built by me and came "as is".

I'll try the position you suggest, wish I could a nice couple of details regarding the pivot ropes.
Thanks, Matt

Matt,

Bet you're stoked!

Is it too late to square off the heel of your mast?

About a third, or better, 40%  of the way back along the spar is said to be a good place to attach the halyard.
If it comes up at the wrong angle, the pivot rope shown in BTNIB is supposed to flatten the sail and peak up the yard.

The GIS is rigged that way to give a better sheeting angle.

My mast and mast partners are round and I noticed they rotated about 45deg over the course of an hour in a light breeze. There is a wooden cleat on the mast to step it off the floor, can I mount a small piece square wood on the either side of cleat to block it from rotating?

I don't think I'm finding the correct attachment point for the halyard, any suggestions?

Is there any need/practicality to running the mainsheet like the GIS...

Finished the mast, boom and halyard and polysail. Rigging is vague in BTNIB (and on the internet) when it comes to the Windsprint. I've been browsing for days on simple rigging for a balanced lug and have seem to have gravitated to Jim Michalak's site and Micheal Storer's/Goat Island Skiff info for rigging examples.
