Now it's not.
Think about all the government people using ipads and what can get said by mistake. I'm digging my bomb shelter today. ( and I live inFl so water enters at about 4 ft. !)

Is the blue/white thing a set of sociology/some other science terms that I need to learn about?
I get the idea frOm the context of your message if you were just invented those metrics.
Just had me wondering what it is about and what color I strive to be.
If it wasn't for the Bolger list I would never have learned about the Duhem-Quine theory or Godwin's Law.

Justin,

I offered no metrics. Simply economic based social classification that has been used in the USA for quite a many decades. Blue color refers to dungarees or uniforms common in a production environment, and white color refers to officers, bankers and others that would commonly wear a white shirt and tie a part of their work attire. It's a loose division, but most people understand the reference, at least in the USA.

Thanks,

Justin,

Actually, it's a typographical error: blue collar= works with hands and tools, white collar= works in office.

Suzanne,
There are always folks on either side of the white color/blue color divide, and those who have enough money that they don't have to work too hard if they put their money in smart places. Very often these folks don't understand what it means to be broke. They don't understand that when you are already broke that expenses being more than income doesn't work if you don't have a lot of capital to carry through to profitability.

I am white color, but only because I worked hard to get here, and I earned it. My past has created enough debt that I don't get to enjoy being a white color yet. It's going to take a few more years. In the meantime, sometimes I have to use a credit card to buy food until the next payday, or write a check I hope doesn't hit the bank until Friday either.

By the time I get to call myself a gentleman again, will probably be close to retirement. I hope I can earn and save enough money to retire at all. Of course retirement for me just means being able to work on what I want rather than working because I need to maximize my income.

Keep working with Joey, he may never come along, but we need people on both sides of the color divide. Maybe you can apeal to his romantic side. There is a great deal of romance in the working styles of boats. Something impressive looking about the appearance of boats that didnt pop out of a mold.

Then it seems he's leaning in an old direction, towards unbalance, heeling over to a tipping point.

Talking of contemporary dories, historical imbalance, motors, and power even:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DoryUnbalanced that?

How many *hundred* modern interpretations of dory design are down to PCB-PB&F? Motors??

C'mon, even an all time great doryman and the "dean of small craft", John Gardner, designed modern interpretations for ply construction.

And beyond the parochial designs of power, before its modern projection, so called modern; after future designs even?

There be the timeless

Would ya look at that! Impressive:http://scottsboating.shutterfly.com/pictures/47

Scott has recently posted along with his contact details some more on the boat details, and that his dory, etc., etc., and road trailer are now up for sale for $550. See:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DoryBoat/message/2383

For comparison here's a transomed Type VI
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger/photos/album/530246735/pic/list

and top of the page a set of three of the probable total of four only other online pics ever of a Type V double endedne
http://www.boat-links.com/messabout/02/Messabout-2.html
eg,http://www.boat-links.com/messabout/02/Dory-1.jpg

and that fourth in GB, a gull by a man who knows his archaeopterix too
http://www.campionboats.co.uk/bolger-light-dory.html

and the sorta comparable double endedne ness of a Gardner gunning dory
http://www.boat-links.com/DepoeBay/04/Freedom-02.jpg

An experience comparison: "After watching the stern wave on one of my GGs (Type VI) I added a balsa block to the lower 6 inches of the transom and shaped it into a double ender; wave gone 1/4 knot faster. It was 1982, I would row her to and from work every day..."
