Real alright - once he had a Shearwater too (design just mentioned in this current thread), eg:

Hello, all - just joining the group. I apologize for my screen name -
it was in response to numerous rejections of my proposed names, and I
chose it in a moment of bad judgment - I am not phil bolger or related
to him! that aside, I am a fan of bolger, and have owned 2 dovekies,
a shearwater, an old shoe, a gloucester light dory, and, currently, a
bobcat. The bobcat is for sale, since I want to go up to either a
birdwatcher II or a Jochem's schooner. I happened to know Jim
Michalak when he first built his birdwatcher prototype, and we sailed
my dovekie and his birdwatcher together a few times - the birdwatcher
is really a neat boat. My bobcat: built by Chris Flynn, a
cabinetmaker - pics are on one of the bolger boat pages under "Flynn's
Folly". Well built; $1500 obo, located in Door County Wisconsin. If
anyone is interested, let me know. Dan Knoedler dwknoedler@...

Not to be confused with the schooner Shearwater #353.

Yes, inch-by-inch I'm progressing through my extensive list of must-dos.
In the meantime you list and images here helps many folks no doubt.

Hi Bruce:
I had Shearwater #12 built by Edey and Duff, completed in Sept 1987. There may have been one or two more at most. 3400 lbs may be the load displacement but she weighed no more than 2300 lbs dry, including 600 lbs of inside lead ballast.

I continue to be amazed by this collection. I have an original edition of "The Folding Schooner", if you would want any scans to work on for more.

Bruce, we all owe you a heap of gratitude for the huge amount of work you've done. Thanks.

Here is my own contribution to the pile of little mysteries to unravel. It has to do with Cape Cod Catboat designs. On a couple of occasions, I've come across references to CCC boats attributed to PCB that I've never seen in any design list. I wonder if they are authentic PCB designs, or wrongly attributed.

As best I remember, the first was from a newspaper article, probably reprinted in the Catboat Bulletin. In the picture, the boat looked like a totally typical CCC that could have been built on the Cape a hundred years ago.

The second was in an advertisement for a Mattapoisett yacht broker. The boat was described as having been built on spec in the Canadian Maritimes, and to be of wood-epoxy construction. I asked the broker on the phone if it was a typical CCC model, and he said it might be "a bit of a hard chine." Whatever that means. [There have been several times that PCB designs have come on the market that I regret not having taken a close look at. I passed on them because I thought there was no great chance that I'd actually make an offer. But I really, really, really, should have gone after this one.] I think there was a little picture, and again, the boat looked like a conventional CCC.

PCB designed lots of catboats, but I don't know of any CCC-type designs of cruising side (~22 ft) without at least one unconventional feature like the leeboards of the Leeboard Cat, or the center cockpit of Grandpa's Pirate ship, or a cat-yawl rig.

If anyone has any insight, I'd be curious.

I don't mind being swamped, and would appreciate collaboration with
others interested in the study of the body of PCB/PB&F designs.

Any number of ways work. If the scans are of copyrighted material
they should be low resolution scans to be considered under 'fair use'.
My first preference is to have the image scans located on Flickr,
tagged with the keywords "bolgerboats" and "boatname". Or, elsewhere
at any other accessible URL located anywhere. Sadly the Yahoo!groups
Bolger group folders are not accessible this way.
I chanced on some PCB memorial day boat pics that I don't believe I'd seen linked to beforehttp://capeannimages.blogspot.com.au/2009/09/bolger-boats.html

The TOC is very effective.

You might be swamped by submissions of scans for missing items, but
if you want them, how should they be formatted?
