Re: [bolger] Hembygge

Jeff-

I think I may have given that fellow permission to copy my links list
because he was going to translate it into Swedish, I really don't recall.
The duplicates (only that Swedish one with permission) are a problem, aside
from raising my blood pressure they confuse visitors, who think they've
found the mother lode of links but the copies aren't updated as frequently
as the original, so they're not as good as the Real Thing. :o(

Speaking of Web page stealing; I once stumbled upon a copy of my nautical
snapshots pages, using the identical HTML except for the background, put up
by some fellow Back East who claimed that they were _his_ photos!!! I kinda
pitied the guy, imagine having so little of a life of your own that you
feel like you have to steal someone else's.

It's a jungle out there on the 'net!

I have no truck with lettuce, cabbage, and similar chlorophyll. Any dietician
will tell you that a running foot of apple strudel contains four times the
vitamins of a bushel of beans. <S. J. Perelman>
John, thanks for the "Mother" of a site you maintain. I use it, and Jeff's
Lynx, all the time.
Jeff-

That's a Swedish copy of my Mother Of All Maritime Links. I gave the fellow
permission (I don't remember why), but his copy is now a couple of years
out of date. You can find a lot more links in the original MOAML, which
should have a new update by Sunday night:

You should tell your mail program to send messages as plain text, what many
see when the messages are encoded is a mess, not to mention that the coded
messages waste a lot of bandwidth for no good purpose. Unfortunately
Netscape and the MS mail programs start out sending coded messages as the
default. :-( You can find out more about the problem and how to fix it here:

Dear Bolgeristi,
I stick my neck out here, knowing that
many of you will have this wondrous set of links,
many to Bolger builds.
But Im putting it up for those who dont.

John,
thanks for letting me know. Why do people bother
trying to duplicate or improve your links?
Its the best set, everyone knows it.

Apologies for the HTML. I send a lot of presentation
type stuff & sometimes forget,
to my distress, to change back.

I have a personal set of links which are a bit diff in that
they simply give name + full URL so I can take them on a
diskette when travelling. ie they are a single standalone html or eml
or txt dataset.
It contains stuff not on yours (not much, but some).
If you of anyone would like a copy I will send it to you,
but youd have to wade thru a lot of stuff you have.
At least its alpha by topic, although there is a lot of
overlap in that, as you are aware.
Please reply off list, & I'll send it in a week to
give time for those who want it to let me know.
It has less explanative material than Johns, isnt as easy to use,
and is multihull oriented.

Jeff
