How big a hole or area? I dropped an anchor through the the 3/8 th's side of
a boat once. For permanent repair I sawed out a square where the hole was
and made a patch that fit in the hole. I put thickened epoxy around the edge
put in the patch then fiberglassed completely over both the inside and out.
After filling and fairing you could not tell the patch was there and I know
it was stronger than the original wood. The current owner stumbled across it
while sanding for repaint and was much amazed.
