leave about an inch of the tubing off the end of the line to act as a fid. Cut it off when you&#39;re done. Have left the heat shrink on  to ease length adjustment on whoopie slings that are lightly loaded.

Heavily loaded splices fail at a too-abrupt taper, so don&#39;t leave heat shrink on a critical splice.</div>
