Re: Buy a micro

I have a Micro in Cape Cod that I sail every summer in Buzzards Bay. It was built in 2002 by David Jost, who chronicled his labors both here on the Yahoo Bolger Group and on his website. Like you, I am more of a sailor than a builder and am closing in on buying a larger boat. I concur with Mason that Micro is a terrific sailor and while you won't win many races, especially upwind, you'll be having a grand time high and dry
I may be selling a 2002-built Micro now in Cape Cod. The builder was David Jost and he thoroughly chronicled the quality of his build here on this yahoo group and on his own website. I will sell if a purchase negotiation on another boat works out. --Rob Gogan
My Micro is in western Oregon, and I was about to put it up for sale, so why not now?  I believe it was built professionally back in the late seventies in Washington state.  Excellent sails, used about ten times. Heavy steel trailer.  Old (but reliable), 2hp Suzuki two-stroke.  Sculling rowlock (no oars).  Package of three unused Type III buoyancy aids.  CQR anchor (I forget the size but it's plenty big).  Registered through the end of this year.  Compass. Various goodies to go and sail now (you should get an up-to-date flare kit).   Two-inch hitch with flat-four connector. I'll try to get some pics up.  Very little used since I've had it (5 years).  I painted and varnished and it's in pretty good shape. $1950 FIRM (seriously).  Previous name was "C Yawl Later".  I call her "Dreadnought", but the name's not on her right now.

My Micro, Pelican, is a well-built one, with excellent spars, sails, trailer, and motor, and is always sort-of for sale, or: I would very much enjoy building you one. –Adirondack Goodboat.

Micros come up for sale and my first thought is if the builder did it right.Perhaps having a micro built by the right boat builder is worth the money.I hope to own a micro if I can resolve the build quality issue.I am not sure I could spot a "good build". Any suggestions for someone more interested in sailing a Micro than building one.Thanks.
