Re: [bolger] Re: 2007 Bolger Micro in Norfolk - old England!

Funny you should mention the Three Rivers Race - I Googled it about two hours ago LOL.

Where abouts are you Dan? We live at Skeyton, but 'Quercus,' (as she is now called) is moored at Ludham Bridge.

We have had a few outings in her, but I really need to sort out the sheeting arrangements on, as she is damn difficult as she stands (especially for a novice).

Funny you should have seen her on Gumtree. I saw her on Ebay and could not believe it when my SWMBO actually gave me the OK!! Kindly, Colin (her previous owner) let me have her, even though there were a couple of bids on her. She takes on rainwater through her cockpit, but a bit of fettling on her cover will sort that. Otherwise, the chap who originally built her at The Crescent in Norwich (by Chapelfields) looks to have done a 'proper job'.

Cheers,

Richard

I did wonder who bought her - I was tempted when I saw her on Gumtree (especially at that price), but as I own a boat already (an Express Pirate, kept at Womack Staithe), I'd have had trouble justifying it to SWMBO. If you ever need a survey or a BSS examination by somebody who's not going to freak out at the sight of a Bolger Box, please feel free to drop me a line. Any chance we might see her in the Three Rivers Race next year?

Thanks for all of the appreciative comments, we are as pleased as punch with her. I'll keep on posting photos throughout the seasons - we hope to keep her in the water throughout most of the Winter to savour frosty and misty mornings...

Not sure what the rate of exchange stands at currently, but we paid £600 (GB Pounds) for her - I think she was a bargain at that price.

Have found the boat off which her sail originally came. They are known as 'Broads Brown Boats' and are sea-going boats. Colin (her last owner) confirmed this and that he had cut her mast down by around 5' and had a strip cut off the leach - you might see in one of my photos how the number 12 is cut through...

Would have been well over-canvassed with that.....

Cheers from across 'The Pond',

Richard

Hi
Fine looking craft. The pics were attached and loaded perfectly but having said that yahoo seems to be randomly assigning mails to spam even though it passed posts from the same address on the same thread so all is not right with yahoo if it ever was.

Thanks for sharing those pics from the Broads

Yes, it's odd... An e-mail popped up immediately with photos our end, but when I looked on the site - no photos. Then again, another member has seen them. I'll give it another go.

Hello all,

We are recently the proud owners of a Bolger Micro, built in Norwich and now moored on the Norfolk Broads.

Attached are a couple of photos.

Her main sheet arrangements need some work - just a sheet tied onto the boom at the moment, but I have friend who is going to fabricate a stainless steel horse and I have three blocks to gain a bit of mechanical advantage...
