Re: [bolger] Re: SACPAS-3 / GADABOUT launch and test

I enjoyed reading the article too. It would be nice to see green and sustainable boats built all over to be honest.

The problem with GRP boats is the same as their benefit. The material is nearly indestructible, meaning it lasts nearly forever whether it is maintained and kept as a thing of pride and beauty or left as a permanent eyesore, destined never to rot away as we might wish it to.

I think the greenest thing we can do would be to sweep up all the abandoned hulls and rejuvenate them. There are new boats being made and sold every day, and I am amazed by that fact.

I should go into business as a remanufacturer and get a
permit to resell the rebuilt hulls as new.

Congratulations, Suzanne, on your successful launch and sea trials! What a phenomenal project! I sure hope this project catches on in Gloucester and elsewhere. I just saw a comment somewhere online along the lines that 'we are regressing when people have forgotten what is possible', and this project certainly is a physical manifestation of the art of the possible!  It was your bulldog tenacity that made this possible, and I hope others both appreciate it and use your design to build more boats. I look forward to the longer article in "Messing About In Boats" along with the pictures - more publicity, more publicity!
