Re: Sail Trac

YES - if not built into the mast, 'track' IS costly . There are TWO types; the 'hollow' curved type -usually internal' and the 'Flat', 'squared-off' kind - these are usually the EXTERNAL, 'add-on' type. Note - these have different sail attachments.

Either way, Stainless Steel & accurate machining COSTS ! And is STRONG. This is why these things are costly. If you ARE going this way - check out the External type. It even has pre-drilled holes for attaching to masts {Wood & otherwise}.

STRENGTH is one of the reasons I'm learly of the 'routed' wooden track types. Just my knowledge of wood & woodworking speaking here.

If not well-attached Stainless, I suggest the 'Old School' LACE-ON method. Yes - it will cost a bit of money {or time} to have the proper Grommets {NO - you don't just 'punch holes' !! } installed. Study up on it - don't forget 'Parrel Balls- to get the location & sizing.

Just my opinion . . .
