Re: Long Micro Trawler

Easiest way to go about this is with a plug in the middle, advocated by Bolger and Michalak on the strength of the 'Old Timers'. It gave them a more burdensome, faster,  more economical boat.

For Michalak's little Toto he ran the sides of the plug strait - no added curve.

For MicroTawler you may look more shipshape by adding some.

A miniature set of plans is included with many other great ones in Phil's Boats with an Open Mind.

Blow them up and you can see what develops.

The main advantage of the plug is not having to adjust every dimension and angle in the boat, as needed in stretching.

I'm thinking of building a slightly longer micro trawler so that a forward Vberth can be added for children. I do not own the plans but I assume 14'6" is the max governed by 2 8' sheets butted. So I was thinking 1/2 a sheet longer with the bunks maybe coming back into helm area a bit and only made up at night. Will use on the St John's river in FL and SE Georgia as well as some camp/ boating trips to MI and Ontario.

Thoughts appreciated. Anyone have a build time in hours, approx?
