Re: [bolger] Bolger's "Small Boats" for sale

Way to much boat for me.  Here in North LA the inland lakes just don't have enough dependable wind.  As much as I love to sail I need a motor sailer. In fact my Babygoose now is registered. I will eventually get a electric trolling motor on her.  Use the sail in light winds to ease around and fish. Sail in fair winds and motor ashore when the water goes flat.  I am to old to paddle a sailboat long distances. The Laguna or something similar with a small motor would be nice. As you said, a bench seat in stead of sitting on the bottom would be nice.

11.6 feet long is a good safe size.  BUT,. at my age my next boat will be my last boat. That is why I may build longer and register it. That way a small motor on back will make it usable all year long not just for the windy months. Blessings. Chief

I just sold my bigger fiberglass sloop, which is too big for me and I am looking for something to build. I will probably keep it under 12' to get around state registration requirements.

How about #470 BOBCAT @ $100.- from PB&F ?
In Nov.13 Vo. 31 issue #7 of MAIB I did a study of her with a ‘Sand Bagger Sloop’ rig, going from a mild-mannered 110 sq. ft. cat-rig to a ‘steroided-up’ 250 sq. ft. sloop rig.
You’d need a few friends – or ‘sandbags’/kegs/mastiffs – to manage her manic ride.
Or reef early-&-often...

I’d go for trying both rigs on that modest hull.
Center if attention wherever you and her would show up.

This how her historic and much bigger sisters look like:

I like the boat you made for Randy.  The little Puddle Duck is great for new sailors to learn on. Stable and forgiving. I sailed one for a few years then built an 8 foot boat of my own design which sails much more like a real sailboat.  Since I already have an 8 foot boat I would like something bigger.  Two adults need at least 12 foot boats for comfort. I have sailed the PDR with 2 adults but it's not real comfortable.  I am looking for at least 12 feet. Not sure but if I built another boat it may be the Laguna which is 23 feet long. As I've aged I've about outgrown little boats. Smile the old back and bottom needs spread out room. Are you still building? Blessings, Chief

Hey Lot Seal.  I met you in Ruston La. I was at church with Gene Lueg.  You built a boat for a guy named Randy here in Minden.  That is a great boat. This is Chief Redelk.  If you have any boats to sell let me know. 318-382-5497. Thanks Chief
