Re: [bolger] Re: Availability of Rewing 18 Kit

Hey Gene I'm a Louisiana boy too. North Louisiana. About the only good place up near me that's sailboat OK , at times some wind, is Lake Claiborne.   Have a great day, Chief

So sorry to hear about your health. Praying for you.

Sure wish I was close enough to be chosen to pick it up, if you go that route. That boat is a dream of mine. I have sit and stared at it and dreamed of traveling around the great loop. I live way down in louisiana. Wish we were neighbors. I know Indiana is a long way. I don't want to see you trash it. If there were some way?
You take care man. I guess we dream.

Jay,

Like the others, best wishes with your health.  I have no room for your kit, but damn.  If you don't object, and quickly, I'll forward your message to a few guys I know in the Indy area.  We've never met, but I live in Avon and have a small 4x8 trailer (with no sides at the moment) that I could offer for a sortie or two.

Sorry to hear of your health problems. That's a fine boat, and you should have no trouble getting rid of it. Many veteran's resale centers will pick up for free. Habitat for Humanity may be interested, and they pick up. Craigslist can be a pain, but it's widely read, and you might get your $1000 out of that. I've bought two wooden boats off Craigslist.

Here’s the situation.

I have a CNC kit to build Karl Stambaugh’s Redwing 18, which consists of frames, transom, planking, etc.  Kit is in my basement.  Kit cost $6000.00 several years ago. Three coats of West epoxy have been applied to the frames and transom.

Due to two open-heart surgeries I can no longer complete the boat.I’m moving from my house to a condo on Friday, February 16thand have to be rid of the kit before that, no later than Friday, February 9th.I’m located in Westfield, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis.

I have four options   (1) trash it (2) donate it to a group which could complete the boat, e.g., Sea Scouts or HS woodworking class (3) give to and individual who will complete it. (4) sell it to an individual who would complete it.

Kit would have to be taken out of my basement and picked up. (Would require a space of 4’ by 8’).

The last thing I want to do with it is to junk it.  So, I’m looking for ideas of specific organizations which would benefit from a donation and/or individuals who would want it for free or pay me $1000.00

Please let me know of your interest or questions.

Thanks. Jay Steiger

Jay, your situation breaks my heart. Dreams bring so much joy to the dreamer and watching dreams fade are always tragic.
However,
With each end comes a new beginning.
I hope you find an acceptable solution to this by gone dream and find a new dream within your grasp.
Jay, it's out there. Sometimes we don't even have to look for it.
Sometimes we just give up and stop trying. Then as we sit half asleep not expecting anything out of the blue our miracle bringing new hope flutters into our life totally unexpected.
Jay, it's those things that become the song bird on the window sill.
Life changes daily. We must let go of the old to grasp the new.
My prayers are with you brother, my heart feels your pain. Eventually, my prayers are your heart will once again be filled with hope and a new vision of Joy.
Blessings, Chief Redelk
