Re: [bolger] Preserving the archive after yahell disintegrates

Hey, I'm a web developer and have been watching these emails for years without participating. If there's a way to export the content, I'm happy to help figure out a way to archive it on the web publicly. Let me know how I can help. -Sean

I agree that the loss of the archives of this message board would be tragic and we should try to preserve it.  Many of my other groups migrated togroups.iowhich works better in many ways but they have stopped honoring requests for importing Yahoo Groups so it would be a totally fresh start now.

I am using the Yahoo Data Tools to make sure I have my own copy of the messages from all my groups.  You can log in and request your download here:https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/getmydata

Once it's completed they will send you an email.  The email will have a "zip" file for you to open.  Inside of that are "mbox" files which are a common email archival format.  You can open these up in an email reading program and review the messages there.

Perhaps you could ‘relay’ my message to thebolger@yahoogroupsforum.
Thank you.

Hello All.
For whatever reasons, I have not been able to access the forum since late Spring ’19 when I tried to mark the 10th anniversary of Phil’s death, and to update folks on goings-on and the ongoing publications-schedule in MAIB.
And I have little appetite to (yet again) need to prove who the office of Phil Bolger might be...
So I seem ‘helpless’ in all of this...

However, the work continues, whether folks study the output to discuss it online - or not.
An MAIB-subscription is accessible to everyone interested in boating.
BOLGER-ON-DESIGN and PHIL-BOLGER-&-FRIENDS-ON-DESIGN has put out over 540 individual articles, with over 125 since Phil’s death alone.

With yahell's removal of all archival material imminent, what has been done to preserve the archive of this group?
Many have switched to io, and that is still possible for future posts, but too late for preserving existing content.
Other owners have downloaded all  content, and have it on a hard drive.
That is still possible if the request is lodged before 14.12: content won't be deleted until the download has been prepared.
A typical delay for that has been 3 weeks.
