To you guys wrote re: Preserving the archive after yahell disintegrates
Sean, Andrew, Susanne, Roderick, et al -
This is the first time ever email to the group, so I can't reply to your earlier messages. I've always only interacted on yahoo groups via the webpage never emails other than to receive "special messages". The web page messages now can only be read since Oct 28 whereas before replies to messages on the webpage was the way to go. (Judging by recurring complaints of others I think it cut out receipt of spam and malware too...)
Various yahoo groups moved early for free to Groups io, other later for a fee - from memory about $100 at first, then about $200 - and apparently are happy at io. Maybe the owner of this bolger yahoo group has moved it there too? I dunno I haven't searched on io groups yet. The owner here also owns a facebook bolger group... and maybe wants to push people there? Someone or other will probably set up a comprehensive Bolger group at Groups io....
Most of the files and photos in this and the seven or so other Bolger yahoo groups have over time heretobefore been archived personally by several peoples. There is another largish archive of older PCB file material of which only a small amount has ever been uploaded freely to the web in any way. I'm in possession of some of that. If the owner hasn't placed a request with io by Saturday coming midnight then all the info in the message archive will be lost ( I note Andrew wrote that io has taken that off the table). There are various free tools available onlinethat some people have used to download and save in various file formats a number of entire yahoo groups. The thinking there is that later a way will be found to upload that material to the corresponding group at Groups io. Those tools all seemed to require the permission of a yahoo group owner. The owner here has been absent even though for some months people have messaged asking about what can be done to preserve the archive. The group owner's position and attitude seems clear... and with only 48 hours left... well, it was a good run I suppose, and I'm indebted to all, indeed that is very many, who have shared and contributed to my knowledge of the amazing works of PCB/PB&F. Thankyou. Thankyou Gregg C.
See you at io one day
Cheers
