Re:(about scantlings)
David, I found good scantling directions in several books:
1) Sam Devlin's "Devlin's Boatbuilding" (stitch and glue boats)
2) Reuel Parker's "The New Cold Molded Boatbuilding" (cold molded
boats)
3) George Buehler's "Buehler's Backyard Boatbuilding" (carvel planked
and plywood hulls)
I've read also that MacNaughton's design office publishes a set of
standard scantlings for different construction techniques.
Best, Pippo

I also have questions about scantlings. The latest Boatbuilder mag has a
letter from Ted Brewer regarding whether an engineering degree is
necessary for boat design. He lists common sources of scantling
information. Nevin's Rules, Herreshoff's Rules, Lloyd's Rules, ABS
Rules. A brief search on line didn't give much information useful to
small boat builder/designers. Anyone got any leads or resources?
