That is truly weird! On thinking about it I do exactly that too.
Consistently. Maybe it is because we read from left to right, and when on
the port side the bow is on the left, so that seems like the "normal" side,
while starboard is the " other side" Maybe it's something else. I wonder
if it works the other way around south of the Equator?
