Long Micro.

Greetings everybody. My name is Gavin Langmuir from Melbourne
Australia. I launched my Long Micro "Thylacine" in 1998 and
have just this year finished the rig.
Some quick quips on some recent threads;
Copper epoxy antifouling never worked for me despite the
boat looking like a sheet of copper when she went in. Within
two weeks there was weed growing. Not slime, WEED.
Epoxy butt joints. I just did one side at a time and flipped
them over well braced.
Double versus single skin bottom. Bolger definitely had this
one right. I used two layers of 12mm ply dry fitted first then
screwed down with square drive screws. I removed the screws then
put the second layer on screwing right through the first on
about 150mm centres. Remove the screws ring nail the chines and
bulkheads glass the bottom and a couple of layers on the chines.
Easy. A weekends work. No,that is a lie.
I put a permanent self draining floor in the bow well. Do not
do otherwise. It fills with water running in a breeze.
Bunks. Just frame them and make them. Anything else is camping.
You mightn't mind but your partner may.
Regards, Gavin.
