Re: [bolger] Photos from Port Townsend (Baby Square Rigger)
David-
I can't find my copy of Buehler's book, so I can't check. The cats must
have something to do with it's disappearance. :o(
I've heard that there are several miniature square riggers on the Columbia
River, and that they show up at the Bald Eagle Festival in Cathlamet in
July to reenact the Battle of Trafalgar (or something). Maybe next year
I'll go see for myself. I kinda remember hearing that those square riggers
were cobbled up from relatively crude hulls like Sabots or El Toros. The
one we saw in PT was far from crude! I wish I'd been able to catch the guy
at the dock, he seemed too busy to talk when I snapped the pictures. <g>
The BSR was carrying two cannon, though she's pierced for more. I don't
know if they work.
Some of us saw the BSR tied up unattended at the boat basin Saturday night.
I apparently didn't get a picture of her there (I was awful tired by then),
did anybody else? Bill? Jamie? Alan?

John,
Great pictures! I'm glad you caught the little square rigger under sail.
I saw it on the trailer (with 2 masts + yards stacked on top) but missed it
in the water.
Very enjoyable festival - worth the 1000 mile round trip - I highly
recommend it. It was good to meet everyone - email's fine but in person is
better.
And Jamie, that's a beautiful boat you've built. Congratulations!

I've begun scanning some of the pictures I took at the Port Townsend Wooden
Boat Festival last weekend. Eventually some of them will end up in the
snapshots section of my Web pages, but in the meantime you can see them
here:

I'll be adding more every day or two for a while, so check back. I've
already put the Bolger boats up though. <g>

Do you know if this is the same square rigger referred to by Beuhler
in his the openning chapter of "Backyard Boats"? Three cheers for her
