Re: transoms and outboards

-Steve ,
I epoxied a piece of conveyor belt on the transom for the
motor mount on my Micro. plus nailed around the edges. 4 years ago
and no sign of trouble. I have used aluminum sheet metal on a fishing
boat and that worked very good.

Here's a question - or a new thread: Are people using anything to protect
the wood of their transoms from the outboard motor turnbolts? I was going to
buy the transom pad that west marine sells to put on Landroval's transom -
but when I saw it was just a piece of rubber for $20 I put it back! On the
one hand I know that rubber floor matts on my wooden deck cause the wood
beneath to rot - on the other hand - my soft latex paint won't hold up to the
mounting bracket of the outboard motor. Anyone found a great solution? By
the way - Landroval - our MJ -now has completed sponsons and the new rudders.
One of these days I'll get a picture of the completed job and post it - I
