the floor is high enough to allow large scuppers. I plan to place two,
two inch on either side using pvc. With large clam shells to suck out
any occumulation. The outlet would be, I think 3-4 l inches below the
floor. Will check this in the morning. The cockpit itself is deep and
would hold water otherwise. As to the seat hight when sitting there it
gives only several inches of back support and little security if that
is what you were refering to. I will will be building in railing to
solve this potential problem. I also plan to build in a very secure
front door to take occaional drenchings. The bow hight by the way is
close to three ft from the water. Will get that exact in morning also.
I do not consider this to be a deep sea vessel and will do my best to
avoid nasty conditions when I can. I may also go ahead and build in a
second water stop just aft of the pilots comp. for the occasional leat.
Easier to mop up this area than the whole boat. Open to any
suggestions as I am seeking the better mouse trap as well. My
finishing touches were with this backsupport area and have no effect on
the cockpit other than looks.

Brad, she's gorgeous, your pictures are an inspiration. A question:
are you
satisfied with the drainage arrangements for the bow cockpit?
A friend wrote me this about the Topaz design:

the main problem is how to drain that forward cockpit when pushing
into a severe chop. If the cockpit floor is high enough to permit
large scuppers and sure drainage it may be too high for security
unless the topsides are taller than may please the eye.

What's your thinking on this? Does your additional framing change the
picture?

Thanks for the complement, it is really helpful not to have to work up
here in the north with no input. When I get add'l pics I will show how
I went beyond the plans and boxed in the framing members at the transom
and the bow. Simple use of 1/4" luan glassed in. This creates a
closed area that I will need to drill through to from the cabin to make
sure that these area's are vented properly. The results are soooo much
nicer. Brad
