Re: Catamarans
Frank,
As a matter of fact, the Oct. 15, 2000 and Nov. 1, 2000 issues of MAIB
have articles by Bolger describing his "Double Eagle design # 657" a 40
ft. cruising catamaran. It is a cruising version of his earlier "Double
Eagle # 646" which was designed for wilderness exploration charters.
The newer version uses twin outboard motors as auxiliary power. The
original version has a powerful inboard yawlboat that fits between the
hulls and pushes the boat, it also is the tender for the catamaran. The
two articles have a lot of Bolger's observations about catamarans in
general.

Well, there is his famous comment that a certain type of
catamaran looked like two clams hiding under a bridge.

If memory holds (I just lent out my copy,) "Boats with an Open Mind"
has at least 3 chapters devoted to multihull designs. With Over 500
designs to his credit there must be more.
