10 things...power tools
6. Essential power tools
I splurged and bought myself a couple of cheap Chinese hand tools for
this project (cordless drill, power plane, sander, all three for about
USD $50 total) and they all served well enough, though they won't last.
The one thing I regret is not having a good quality circular saw. I
picked up one for about USD $40, not the cheapest but close, and I
regret it. It won't hold a bevel, the guard jams, and it seems to cut
more poorly. I don't dare get a nice Matsushita blade for it from Dave
Carnell because I think it would just ruin it. Next time...
The good news is that I got a nice German-made AEG pendulum-action
jigsaw for my birthday! (Oh my God, I've become the stereotypical
father in Sears ads!) It should be just the think for cutting out
plywood planks for an Oughtred pram....
