The pirate's plank has wooden screens all around to preserve modesty, so the
whole thing looks like a box hanging over the side of the boat. The general
term used is "The Thunderbox". Can't think why . . .?

(we use a Porta-Pottie, and, yes, it can be a hassle. However, one can

does seem from my casual observation that he who empties the PP tends to use

Have you thought about a composting toliet. There are some that can be

Vegas currently sets the odds that the LSx2 will get build (or at
least started) at 70/30 in favor.
Several fashes of insight (as well as generous and helpful advice
from several quarters) have render my interior concerns mute. 46 feet
is plenty of room for everything I want and then some.
So, on to heads.
If I had my way, there'd be a toilet seat cantilevered out over the
transom like a pirate's plank. Still, it seems worth while to at
least investigate other options.
Some sort of self-contained porta-potti seems like the easiest
solution. However, the one we had on our fishing boat 20 years ago
was such a hassle, we ended up using the pirate plank option, minus
the plank.
A holding tank and pump out tank doesn't seem like it would be any
easier, or stinkier, and an overboard flushing toilet seems as
impolite as the plank (remember this is an inshore cruiser,) and more
complicated.
Any opinions born of real world experience welcome.
