Re: [bolger] folding schooner weekly update.

G'day Paul,
Good going on your project, but you didn't have to tell us about your
weather! Here its 11 deg. Fahrenheit. ( I don't think Celsius goes down
that far) ;-) Last night we got about 1/4 inch of ice with about 1/2
inch of snow on top of it. I'll swap our wood for your weather!
Keep up the good work, All the best, Stan, Snow Goose
Greetings from kalgoorlie western australia. I am proud to announce
that the stack of ply and timber in my shed now resembles half a
folding schooner. A 2 day glueing screwing measuring and beer
drinking binge left me with a deeply satisfying feeling that I was
getting somewhere. Worst problem of the weekend was when my 10"
handplane was left in the sun and had to be put in the fridge with
the beer for half an hour to cool down. Best temp for the day was 43
degrees celcius in the shed. All is planed ready for the bottom but
my 3/4 stainless screws have gotten lost in transit. Full points to
mr B. I am learning to trust his instructions, measurements and
methods of boatbuilding.
To those pining for other woods, our local timbers weigh about 5
to 7 times your pines and face harden when cut. Epoxy glue will peel
off the surface. They do make really good tool handles and belay
pins .[I hope]. The moral of the story is be happy with what you've
got.
cheers for now Paul Day AUS3
