Re: Great Lakes Cruiser
You are probably no more likely to build a boat that will withstand the
extremes of what the GL's can deliver than most folks are to build the
invensible ocean vessel. So no matter what you build you'll choose you're
sailing conditions carefully. With that in mind I'd encourage you to take on
a small project if you haven't previously build a boat. Something like
Windsprint or June Bug or something else small, in the "old" instant boat
tradition. Keep it small and cheap so you can conceivable build it over the
winter (assuming you have shelter). For under a thousand dollars (including
rig) you can have something in the water by early summer that will give you
great satisfaction plus something to experiment with in moderate conditions.
Then take on MJ, Micro, AS 29, or Jochems, etc. You'll gain priceless
experience and have something to have fun with during your non-building
times. Happy building.
