Re: Foam Again and so on..

This is a great idea and really helps reuse and recycle the stuff. I
have outfitted Pointy Skiff, and Diablo with foam blocks that are left
along the tide line after the winter storm season has blown through.
I go foam hunting along the harbor shores at high tide in Pointy Skiff
and have found plenty of it to go around.
Not only free, but cleans up the environment and beautifies the
landsape at the same time! it is also a good excuse to go for a row!

Howdy,
Lots of Marinas have a tough time getting rid of old blocks of foam,
that have been replaced by new foam blocks. At the marina where I
play at being a sailor, it's free for the asking!

I have used a large block of really old beat-up foam, as a steping
stone for my pontoon boat for several years. After a month of resting
partly in the water it does absorb some water, but will still support
a 200 lb man (me)as a life raft.

I used a hand saw to cut a large block into small blocks for my
Tortoise "Piglet". We will see how well it works this summer!
