[bolger] Re: martha jane mainsail yard

I don't have a set of the plans, but I bet it is at least 2 1/2" at the ends
and even thicker in the middle. The yard needs to be *stiff* to control that
large lug. My 114 sq. ft. lug specifies a 1 1/2" untapered yard. It's really
too whippy as designed. It should be about 2" square. I think you can get
away with an undersized boom, but not the yard, IMO.

Hi Gang - I wonder if any of you know the answer to this - the plans for
martha jane say that the heel of the mainsail hard should be 2 1/2 inches -
but that doesn't look right to me - and the drawing looks tapered - I wonder
if it is supposed to be 1 1/2 inches instead - does anyone know? Steve
