Birdwatcher Query - The next generation...
Thank you to all those of you who responded, really appreciate 1)your
thoughts and 2)your loyalty to your fave Bolger design!!
Time for a confession to you Micro fans - about 4 years ago I bought
Micro plans from Bernie W, and had begun stockpiling ply and lead
when I was put on overseas transfer and spent the next age everywhere
between Las Vegas and Jerusalem. Back now - micro is still a
possibility - I am still in love with the design and concept - always
will be.
Next confession to Light Scooner fans - I fell in love with this
design about 2 months ago and during lunch breaks I read everything
on the net about it... the one thing that puts me off are the crew
requirements - my girlfriend is definitely no sailor and to be honest
not much ballast either unless she eats more!!!! and generally hard
to assemble many more. I am used to driving tricky yachts - my 12'
racing skiff, twin trapeze "carnivore" as Mr Bolger would say, couldnt
stand upright on the concrete let alone the water, but have concerns
about the scooner as an expedition boat... am I wrong?? having said
that after reading your reply David R - I went to see if I could move
my clothes line and increase available space for boat storage
To the Chebacco fans - yes I like the design and can see its
potential - but it doesnt quite evoke the same passion...
Finally to Don B - no I am a real NZer - albeit with an aussie email -
just love that team... and have well before the Warriors were
invented!! but appreciate your comments - Auckland is a tricky place
to sail - though most of my sailing will be done in lakes - ie the
taupo rock faces, the south is lakes and the Bay of Islands
am going to have a think... that ply is out in the garage and its
calling
Cheers
Dave
