For my Cynthia J. I used a folding grapnel-type anchor and kept the
anchor and rode in a plastic suitcase originally made to keep shop
tools in. A friend with a J-30 keeps his anchor and rode in a plastic
laundry basket. I think the idea of a separate container is good, but
that polytarp in probably not the way to go because it wouldn't dry
inside. Our family has collected a supply of canvas carryalls over
the years from different charitable causes that I might appropriate
in your place.

I'm building a Single Handed Schooner that is getting close to going
3-D and have begun to consider the practicalities of sailing her. One
thing that I cannot seem to resolve is a simple way to stow the anchor
without making a big mess. I probably could alter the plan to put in
a anchor well forward but I don;t like to mess with the Bolger
designs. Another alternative that has occured to me, though it is not
very elegant, is to fabricate a waterproof bag out of a polytarp and
use that. If anyone is familiar with the Single Handed Schooner
design and has a suggestion, I would appreciate it.
