Slow is not a problem I have heard of, and I doubt that's due to Yahoo.
But, that doesn't matter - the group is sympathetic, but lodging complaints
here does no good. We all know it. Please - DO tell Yahoo what you think
on our behalf.

slow for the last several weeks, but this morning Openboats was
positivily snappy. Go figure!

This is only my second post, but I have to say this is the slowest,
clumsiest, most intrusive and complicated forum system I have seen,
by a factor of about ten! Does it take as long to load for you guys?
I've read three messages and my patience is gone! And I've seen every
forum type and subject... only one I can think of is worse. The
bigger the name and ad budget, the worse the service, I think... Rich.

It's just possible though I doubt it, that knowing PCB's philosophy and our
interest in his work, they haven't found anybody interested in targeting us.

Yahoo, for all their technological wizardry, is basically inept. I
wouldn't worry too much about giving them your entire life story --
they'd never know what to make of it.
I use a Yahoo homepage; I have given them truthful stats on my age
and location; and I have the old Bolger e-Group marked as a favorite
with them, in addition to Openboat and Boatdesign, along with
Duckworks Magazine, Jim Michalak's site, and Gavin Atkin's Boat
Design Resources. Basically, Yahoo should know every move I make on
the web, and how heavily my web usage is slanted toward BOATS.
Here they gather all this info on our web travels and preferences,
and what "targeted" ads do I get? "Live debt-free!" (I already do.)
Dating services. (I'm happily married.) Toy auctions. (Toy
auctions!?) . . . Whose profile do they have for me? There must be
terrible data corruption there.
Why can't they figure out that I'd salivate over Raka expoxy ads?
Fiberglass Coatings ads would have me picking up the phone and
ordering in a minute. How about Marine Plywood Bulk Discount! Plans
ads from Harold Payson, or direct from PCB . . .
Anyway -- I'm just kidding mostly. I hate the invasion of privacy,
and I have my browser set to intercept all cookies. I know that in
the future, everything you've ever said or done on the web could be
used against you. But it boggles the mind how little these guys do
with the info they have.
All best,
Garth
