I've built a Nymph and Rubens Nymph- both excellent and easy
first-time projects- the Rubens a vast improvement.
A crisis can arise when it is time to bend the gunwale strips onto the the
boat. Both curves, up-and-down and horizontal, are very sharp and it is a
difficult task, requiring a forest of clamps and hard work, and I have had
a couple of strip break in the process.
Try this: soak the strips in water overnight. The wet strips bend very
easily, and clamp them just roughly into place and let them dry. After that
the job of clamping accurately, gluing and screwing is very easy.
