I have plans for the Anhinga...maybe from about 86. I had extensive
conversation with Dave Bredemeier who admitted to having dome difficulty with
the design. Now, this has ben a while back, so I don't remember the details.
I've kept the letters with my plans, which are stored. I am planning to look
up some other items from that box within the next couple of weeks, and it it
is of interest to the list, I'll reread those letters and report on Dave's
troubles.

I decided that the boat was much too closed up for my liking., though I did
like the concept...you may remember that it was in the lineage of EEK!! The
idea was to make a really simple sharpie that was eminently seaworthy...sort
of a squared off Dugong. The flat bottom was carried all the way to the
sternpost (EEK!!!) for some reason that PCB was gnawing on at the time.

Mr. Bolger has not popularized the plans of the Anhinga Sharpie for
reasons not known to me. According to an entry here:

http://www109.pair.com/btsftp/maib/index.html

an article did appear in Messing About In Boats.

I suspect that the design just happens to be about the same size as a
number of better known ones (Martha Jane, Birdwatcher, Black
Skimmer...), and has simple been overshadowed. I would direct my
inquiry to the man himself.

Dear Group:

In Wooden Boat Magazine 89, in "Launchings", a Bolger sharpie was
featured called "Sandy Bottoms".
They described it as an "Anhinga Sharpie" designed by Phil Bolger,
23'3" long built by one Dave Bredemier.
It's a very pretty boat. I have never seen anything else on it
anywhere.
Are there plans available?
Any help would be appreciated.

love Wendy
