re:chine latches on folding schooner
Peter. Re chine latches. On th for'ard hull I'vemade my chine log 3/4
thickx 3" wide over the legth of the rear compartment. Also a
similar quantity of wood on the inside of the hull giges you ample
space to spread the load with screws or bolts. On the aft hull i'v
enlarged the outside of the hull in a similar fashion . It's glued
and screwed from the inside, then glassed over before the
centerboard cases go in. I dont like the idea of a keel latch as a
small wave in shallow water could drop the boat on your arm whilst
its under the boat working blind. thats my thought anyway. How are
the polytap sails holding up? Later tonight I'll draw a sketch and
put it in my folding schooner in australia file. cheers paul day
