I would recommend glass and epoxy from bottom to bootstripe at least. I have used VC 17 bottom paint. It lasts and is easy to touch up.If the boat is staying

I would suggest that if a building a lead keel is really something you want to avoid, (I would avoid the toxic, dangerous task) build a Michalak Blobster.

Yes the LEDs are the way to go for nav lights. They are bright and stay bright even when the voltage drops to under 11 volts. You will spend a few more dollars
