Yup... I say go with the hoops, but it is a more expensive system. you will need shackles, lacings, and hoops. Sail tension is a lot easier with the hoops.

lets just see what the extra weight of making the bottom and hull sides of steel. Bottom has plate of 1/2 10 x 24 = 2000lbs will make 1/4 bottom for 2000 lbs

Hi Ed there are a number of High Thrust outboards out there in that range. Look for the one with the largest prop on the lowerunit so you will get the best bit
